Travis Ricks President
As an above the knee amputee, Travis knows more than most what having a strong sense of community and support can do for someone who has gone through a major life changing disability.
Travis joined AdaptABLE to make sure that others have a strong adaptive community available when they need it. He believes that through the AdaptABLE Foundation, we can provide the community relationships, education and other resources that can help other individuals and families new to a life with a disability.
Briana Elison Treasurer
Briana and Darius have been married for over 15 years, they have two amazing daughters Lillian and Vivian.. Lillian, their oldest daughter, was diagnosed with ADHD at a young age and Vivian was born with Spina Bifida.
As a family they have learned to navigate this world with a daughter who has complex medical needs. They have found joy in helping other families and individuals who have been affected by different adaptive needs. The Elison’s know firsthand how important a community can be to the overall well being of a family whose needs may look a little different.
Sarah Carey Secretary
Sarah is the wife of Geoff and the mother of 4 children: McKay, George, Will and Annie. Their youngest daughter Annie was born with drop foot and has been an athlete in many sports. Currently she is competing in track and field as a Paralympic hopeful. All 4 children are currently in college with Annie heading into her first year.
The Carey family has not only been around the adaptive community for almost 20yrs, but they have navigated the adaptive sport side of it as well. Sarah has volunteered for several adaptive organizations and loves helping other families on their adaptive journey.
Meira Nelson
Suffering a Spinal Cord Injury from an accident, Meira Nelson has redefined herself not only as an amazing championship surfer and athletes, but also as wife, mother and adaptive community member. She recently moved from Hawaii to Idaho with her Husband Alex and two kids.
Since arriving Meira has been making a positive impact in the community through volunteering with adaptive nonprofits like AdaptABLE Foundation and has recently joined our board in hopes to give back in a bigger way. We are very proud to have Meira and her family involved with the organization as the is a perfect example of what
Nicole West
Nicole received her Bachelor of Arts in Exercise Science from Point Loma Nazarene University. She received her Masters of Science in Prosthetics and Orthotics from Alabama State University. She completed her Orthotic and Prosthetic Residency at Coyote Prosthetics and Orthotics in Twin Falls. She then worked in San Diego at a Hangar Clinic where she specialized in pediatric orthotics. Nicole enjoys working with patients of all ages, with a focus on pediatric orthotics and general prosthetics. Nicole enjoys volunteering at various events in the community, and is a certified adaptive snowboard instructor (BASE) and serves as a member of the board for AdaptABLE Foundation. She also enjoys hiking, dirt bike riding, traveling, and crafting.
Willie Stewart
“One-Arm” Willie Stewart has been involved in the the adaptive community since tragically losing his arm in a construction accident as a young adult. He is married to his wife Lynssey and has two very athletic children, Sosie and Breck.
Willie has spent his life proving that a disability doesn’t define someone. He has helped change perception of adaptive athletes through the many sports he has done, but more importantly, he has been a mentor to others in helping create several adaptive programs and by lending his many years of experience navigating an able-bodied world as someone with a disability.
